Humayun's Tomb:

Humayun's tomb is believed to have been designed by the widow of the Mughal emperor Humayun.
The architectural plan of the monument, based on the description of Islamic paradise gardens, is
said to have inspired the Taj Mahal and many other Mughal tombs. The tomb is at the centre of a

square garden called Char Bagh.

Qutb Minar:

The construction of the minar (tower) was begun in AD 1193 by Qutubuddin Aibak, the first Muslim
ruler of Delhi. It is 72.5 m high and stands at the courtyard of the Quwwat-ul-Islam masjid. This is
the oldest historical monument in Delhi and is a must-see for any visitor to the city.

Lotus Temple:

It is the Bahá'i house of worship. A fairly recent construction, it is admired for its architecture.

A fascinating building built entirely of red sandstone, it is a fascinating example of the rich Mughal
architecture. Red Fort is the venue for India’s independence day parade.

leftInteractive Media Colloquium
TERI is organising an 'Interactive Media Colloquium' for a select group of young international journalists during DSDS. Taking into cognisance the role of communication in furthering the cause of sustainable development, TERI aims to give young journalists from across the world a chance to not just enhance their understanding of the sustainable development discourse but also to participate in the international Summit through the Colloquium. With highly interactive and informative lectures, discussions, presentations, and video screenings, the sessions will provide the participants with a holistic understanding of eminent threats currently facing the planet.

The Colloquium will be held in partnership with The Third Pole. The portal, thethirdpole.net, was launched four years ago as a project of chinadialogue.net, in partnership with Earth Journalism Network. This unique, standalone platform aims to provide impartial, accurate and balanced information and analysis, and to foster constructive debate on these vital resources from across the region.

The Colloquium will present a window of opportunity to participants to:

  • Attend exclusive closed-door interactions with the world’s distinguished luminaries, Nobel Laureates, Heads of State, corporate leaders and policy-makers.
  • Explore and cover critical sustainability-related news angles
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of issues at one of the world’s biggest Summits
  • Receive special appreciation letters from the Special Jury

We invite applications from full-time journalists interested in participating in the Colloquium and covering the Summits. All applications must include:

  • A statement of purpose (in less than 300 words)
  • Two recent news clippings/videos/links on relevant subjects (send a one paragraph summary in English if it is in another language)
  • A letter of assignment from the editor (on the official letterhead) with an undertaking to publish/broadcast the reports the applicant sends from the Summits (freelancers should send a letter from the editor of the publication where they plan to publish these reports).

TERI has managed to secure limited support to facilitate the participation of ten applicants from developing countries. These will be chosen through a first-come-first served yet merit-based selection process by the Summit Secretariat. The registration fees for WCSS and DSDS will be waived off for all participants.

Completed applications must reach Mr. Muthu Reddy at muthujr@teri.res.in
