Defining the stakes, engaging the stakeholders

Abstract

Technological leapfrogging: the lure and the limits

In DuPont we believe that sustainable development integrates social,
economic and environmental needs to develop better solutions to today's problems while also providing stewardship of the resources needed for the future. Technology can play a key role in responding to these needs and developing solutions.

Our technology strategy is to focus on three goals:

  • Define relevant targets for new products,

  • Create uniqueness in our products and

  • Commercialize our products. Some of the relevant targets that we are pursuing are alternate energy, low application pesticides and herbicides, insect resistant food crops and improved manufacturing processes that use fewer hazardous chemicals and renewable resources.
