These programmes are conducted with young environment enthusiasts,who are currently playing a crucial role in paving the way for climate action.The platform of the World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS) is one that strives to offer young voices the opportunity to be closely associated with the deliberations of change.
- Youth Volunteer Programme: This programme intends to engage youth leaders from across global universities and offer them an exclusive opportunity to listen to, witness, and interact with some of the world’s greatest thought-leaders during the Summit. Apart from being a great learning experience, it has proven to be an enriching opportunity for students to discuss issues of sustainability, environment, and climate change through the many responsibilities that the volunteers showcaseduring the Summit days.
- Youth Climate Conclave 1st Edition: The Conclave was held as part of WSDS 2020. It was envisaged as a competitive and an educative mode of action, where the young from across the country were invited to join hands to address issues of climate change. The programme concluded on 31 January 2020 and was held as part of the EU-funded Strategic Partnership for Implementation of the Paris Agreement (SPIPA) project. It involved a series of activities such as photography and blogging competitions. The winners were awarded during the Summit’s valedictory session. The winning photographs featured in the2020 annual calendar and the winning blog entries were included in a monograph titled, Young Voices for the Planet.
- Youth Climate Conclave 2nd Edition: In order to facilitate engagement, education and empowerment of Indian youth about the challenges of Climate Change, the 2nd edition of “Youth Climate Conclave” (YCC) is being organized. YCC is being held under the SPIPA (Strategic Partnership for the Implementation of the Paris Agreement) project with Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, GoI as the nodal ministry. The SPIPA project is being implemented by GIZ-India along with the support of Delegation of the European Union to India. The YCC activity is being implemented by TERI in partnership with GIZ-India and CEEW. This conclave is envisaged as a competitive and an educative mode of action, wherein youth from across the country will come together to join hands and address the issues of climate change.
