Humayun's Tomb:
Humayun's tomb is believed to have been designed by the widow of the Mughal emperor Humayun.
The architectural plan of the monument, based on the description of Islamic paradise gardens, is
said to have inspired the Taj Mahal and many other Mughal tombs. The tomb is at the centre of a
square garden called Char Bagh.
Qutb Minar:
The construction of the minar (tower) was begun in AD 1193 by Qutubuddin Aibak, the first Muslim
ruler of Delhi. It is 72.5 m high and stands at the courtyard of the Quwwat-ul-Islam masjid. This is
the oldest historical monument in Delhi and is a must-see for any visitor to the city.
Lotus Temple:
It is the Bahá'i house of worship. A fairly recent construction, it is admired for its architecture.

Red Fort:
A fascinating building built entirely of red sandstone, it is a fascinating example of the rich Mughal
architecture. Red Fort is the venue for India’s independence day parade.
Jama Masjid:
Built by Shahjahan in AD 1650, it is the largest and the most well known mosque of India.

The Colloquium will be held in partnership with The Third Pole. The portal, thethirdpole.net, was launched four years ago as a project of chinadialogue.net, in partnership with Earth Journalism Network. This unique, standalone platform aims to provide impartial, accurate and balanced information and analysis, and to foster constructive debate on these vital resources from across the region.
The Colloquium will present a window of opportunity to participants to:
- Attend exclusive closed-door interactions with the world’s distinguished luminaries, Nobel Laureates, Heads of State, corporate leaders and policy-makers.
- Explore and cover critical sustainability-related news angles
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of issues at one of the world’s biggest Summits
- Receive special appreciation letters from the Special Jury
We invite applications from full-time journalists interested in participating in the Colloquium and covering the Summits. All applications must include:
- A statement of purpose (in less than 300 words)
- Two recent news clippings/videos/links on relevant subjects (send a one paragraph summary in English if it is in another language)
- A letter of assignment from the editor (on the official letterhead) with an undertaking to publish/broadcast the reports the applicant sends from the Summits (freelancers should send a letter from the editor of the publication where they plan to publish these reports).
TERI has managed to secure limited support to facilitate the participation of ten applicants from developing countries. These will be chosen through a first-come-first served yet merit-based selection process by the Summit Secretariat. The registration fees for WCSS and DSDS will be waived off for all participants.

Visa
Citizens of all countries require a valid passport and an appropriate visa. Visa must be obtained abroad from an Indian Mission. If any foreign delegate is attending the conference, approvals from Nodal Ministry, MHA and MEA need to be taken. To get visa for participants from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Sudan, and foreigners of Pakistan origin settled in other countries, the information on the particular format to be given and sent to DSDS Secretariat at least 10 weeks before the commencement of their travel. The Ministry of Home Affairs will send necessary instructions to the respective ministries once the approval is granted by the departments concerned.

Health regulation
A valid yellow-fever certificate is mandatory for all individuals (including infants) who have been even in transit in Africa or South Africa or Papua New Guinea six days prior to their arrival for the summit.The certificate becomes valid 10 days after vaccination. India does not require immunization against small pox or cholera.

Customs
Visitors are generally required to make a verbal identification of their baggage and declare foreign currency in excess of $10,000.

Climate
Delhi is very cold in February. It is one of the best times to travel in north India. Day temperatures range from 16 - 22 °C. Nights are cooler, with the mercury dipping to 7 - 12 °C. Usually, there are no rains during this season, though unexpected brief showers cannot be ruled out.

Currency
India’s currency unit is the rupee ( ), divided into 100 paisa (p). Delegates can convert foreign exchange into Indian rupees or vice versa at the travel desk at the conference venue.

Electricity
In India electricity supply is at 220 V, 50 Hz. Round pins (2 or 3) can fit in the power sockets. Adapters are generally available at all hotels.

Taxi
Taxis are on call round-th-clock. Air-conditioned (AC) Radio taxis may be called by dialing +91-11-43434343 or +91-11-29232425. These taxis have a flat charge per kilometer traveled, and are available at the both the international and domestic terminals. In addition, there are prepaid taxi counters at the airport for travelling to any part of the city.

Time zone
India is 5.5 hours ahead of GMT, 4.5 hours behind Australian Eastern Time, and 10.5 hours ahead of American Eastern Standard Time.

Travel desk
There will be a travel desk for travel related assistance as well as for booking sightseeing toursof the city.
