Dr Nitin Pandit, Ph.D., P.E.
Executive Director, International Institute for Energy Conservation and Vice President, Civil Engineering Research Foundation, Washington DC

Dr. Pandit is responsible for directing IIEC operations in all of the U.S., Latin America, South Africa, and Asia offices and project locations. Following IIEC’s 1999 merger with the Civil Engineering Research Foundation (CERF), his primary role is to envision and develop complementary programs that derive synergies from technological and institutional innovations in engineering and sustainable energy development. In daily operations, Dr. Pandit provides hands-on management support to strategic projects and programs. He also directs the development of policies and procedures for organizational operations and marketing initiatives.

President, 1991-2000

Cultivated a small consulting firm specializing in niche applications of state-of-the-art information technologies, policy methods, and counter-trading for energy/environmental problem solving. Client base included government, multi-nationals, and multi-lateral banks. Specific international project experience included biomass-based cogeneration, knowledge based portfolio management, offset trading, and strategic decision support.

Roy F. Weston, Inc., Washington, DC, USA

Project Director, 1986-1991

Managed a multi-disciplined applied R&D department to market and develop systems and diverse methodologies to solve environmental problems using advanced computer science techniques.

Woodward-Clyde Consultants, Easter Group, USA

Senior Staff Engineer, 1981-1984

Worked on several geotechnical characterization, modeling, and design with field and lab interactions. Projects ranged from fly ash disposal (Consumers Power), offshore foundation studies (Exxon), soil and rock tunneling (SSI), hydro-geologic site investigations, and geotechnical inspection at several construction sites.

Performed systems engineering for African water resource projects, including analyses of rainfall & flood hydrology, crop water requirement, irrigation and drainage systems, and plot layout.
