    Mr Jairam Ramesh  
    Former Union Minister and Member of
    Parliament, India  
    Jairam Ramesh is presently
    Secretary of the Economic Affairs Department of the Congress Party. He also serves as an
    economic advisor to various Congress-ruled states. He writes a weekly column called Kautilya
    for Indias leading weekly newsmagazine India Today and is also a frequent TV
    commentator. He has served as an aide to two Prime Ministers and two Finance Ministers,
    apart from having occupied key positions in various government departments between
    1983-1996. He serves on the board of various institutions and public service organizations
    and has received prestigious fellowships and awards. He has authored many well-known
    publications one of which Yankee Go Home But Take Me With You; A Perspective on
    Indo-American Relations was published by the Asia Society and the Council for Foreign
    Relations just before President Clintons visit to India. He has spent time Yale
    Universitys recently-established Center for the Study of Globalisation. He is also
    associated with the Institute of Chinese Studies, New Delhi. He has also advised the
