Andrei Marcu Executive Director, International Emissions Trading Association
Mr Marcu has spent most of his career in the electric power industry with Ontario Hydro in Toronto, Canada, where he has worked in many areas of the corporation in a senior capacity including contracts, energy efficiency, regulatory affairs, and international operations. As Deputy Managing Director of the E7 and Chair of the Climate Change Subcommittee, he has had the opportunity to work on issues related to sustainable energy development in a sector critical to development and in implementation of Agenda 21. He has also worked in the field of development as Manager of Private Sector Cooperation in the United Nations Development Programme, where he has pioneered cooperation between the UN system and multinational corporations. Mr Marcu holds a degree in electrical engineering from McGill University in Montreal and an MBA from the University of Toronto. |
Andrei Marcu is
Executive Director of the IETA (International Emissions Trading Association), a business
association with offices in Geneva, Switzerland and Toronto, Canada. The IETA includes
organizations such as BP, Shell, Tokyo Electric, Ontario Power, Dupont, and TransAlta,
dedicated to the creation of an efficient and environmentally robust market for greenhouse
gases to address the issue of the issue of global warming and climate change. In this
capacity, he has been deeply involved in COP process and the national and international
effort to make the provisions of the Kyoto Protocol operational and create its governance
regime
