    Prof. Charles Perrings

     Charles
    Perrings, Professor of Environmental Economics and Environmental Management at the
    University of York, is President Elect of the International Society for Ecological
    Economics. He is Editor of the Cambridge University Press journal, Environment and
    Development Economics, and is on the editorial boards of a number of other journals in
    the field. Amongst other advisory posts he is on the steering committee of Diversitas, the
    Advisory Board of the Banca Montei di Paschi di Siena and the Board of Trustees of the
    Sibthorp Trust-IUCN UK. Previous posts include Professor of Economics at the University of
    California, Riverside, and Professor of Economics at the University of Botswana. He was
    also Director of the Biodiversity Programme of the Beijer International Institute of
    Ecological Economics, Stockholm, and a member of the Royal Societys environment
    committee. Much of his work over the last ten years has been directed at building
    institutional, pedagogical and research links between ecology and economics  the
    central disciplines in the field of ecological economics. His research interests include
    the ecology and economics of biodiversity, modelling of dynamical ecological-economic
    systems, the management of environmental public goods under uncertainty, and the
    environmental implications of economic development. He has published numerous books and
    scientific papers in the field.
