PM Modi Extends Best Wishes on WSDS Silver Jubilee Edition
The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi shared a message on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee edition of the World Sustainable Development System. An excerpt from the message—“Our approach is guided by Antyodaya, the rise of even the most disempowered. Climate action must first protect the vulnerable, the poor, and the disadvantaged. The Global South bears a disproportionate burden of climate change. Yet for them, development is imperative. Climate justice is therefore essential.”
Through his message, he conveyed that our scriptures and traditions remind us of
‘पिबन्ति नद्यः स्वयमेव नाम्भः, स्वयं न खादन्ति फलानि वृक्षाः।
नादन्ति सस्यं खलु वारिवाहाः, परोपकाराय सतां विभूतयः।’
It translates to ‘Rivers do not drink their own water. Trees do not eat their own fruit. Clouds do not consume the harvest that they helped grow. The wealth of the noble exists for the service of others’.
