Advisory on Fraudulent Invitations on WSDS

It has come to our attention that fraudulent websites, emails, and invitations are being circulated, falsely claiming association with the World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS). These communications, including misleading websites, deceitfully offer participation in events abroad, such as in London, while misusing the name of TERI and WSDS and, at times, impersonating the United Nations. Stakeholders are strongly advised to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of any communication through TERI’s official channels only.

It is therefore warned to all stakeholders to exercise extreme caution against such fraudulent emails and websites. We strongly suggest that individuals do not rely upon any communication received from any source other than the official channels of TERI. In case of any doubt or to verify the authenticity of an invitation, please immediately contact our office at wsds@teri.res.in

Examples of fraudulent activities
  • Emails from addresses such as @summits25.com, @wsd-summits.org, and @wsd-summit.org, falsely promising complimentary travel, visa support, or financial grants
  • A fraudulent website has been created by morphing content from TERI’s and WSDS’s official websites. This website selectively uses information and misuses photographs of the organisers, invited speakers, and even government ministries, which constitutes a serious and deliberate act of fraud: https://wsd-summit.org/2025/index.html
  • Fabricated “confirmation emails” that falsely claim to verify the authenticity of earlier fraudulent messages, misleading recipients into believing they are officially invited.
Genuine information
  • For the World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS), convened by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), all authentic information is available on the official website. The next edition of WSDS will be held from 25–27 February 2026 in New Delhi, India: https://wsds.teriin.org
  • Official communications and invitations from WSDS are sent only from email addresses ending in @teri.res.in.
  • WSDS does not provide unsolicited financial grants, airfare sponsorships, or visa assistance.
  • Any communication that does not originate from @teri.res.in should be treated as suspicious and ignored.
What You Should Do
  • Verify the sender’s email address.
  • Report any suspicious invitations to wsds@teri.res.in.
  • Report any suspicious invitations to concerned authorities in your jurisdiction.
  • Do not click on links, share personal information, or make payments in response to such fraudulent emails.

We urge all our partners, stakeholders, and invitees to exercise caution. Genuine invitations for WSDS will only be sent directly by TERI from official @teri.res.in accounts.

These fraudulent messages are the work of cyber criminals attempting to dupe individuals of money in the name of “complimentary airfare.” Please do not fall victim to such scams.

We have also reported this activity to the concerned authorities in our jurisdiction for necessary action.

Fact Check on Commission on Sustainable Development

The Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) was a United Nations functional commission established in 1992 to oversee the follow-up to the Rio Earth Summit and Agenda 21. It functioned as a high-level forum for dialogue and progress review on sustainable development but was dissolved after its final session in 2013 and replaced by the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). Any reference to CSD in current invitations is false and misleading.
