TERI in collaboration with the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India will be holding the Chennai Regional Dialogue on ‘Clean Oceans’ as a pre-event to the World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS) 2019, TERI’s flagship event.
The discussions on clean oceans held at Chennai will be further deliberated at the global platform of WSDS 2019 which will be held under the broad rubric ‘Attaining the 2030 Agenda: Delivering on Our Promise’ from February 11- 13, 2019.
With the aim of widening the scope and outreach of the WSDS, a series of pre-events in the form of Regional Dialogues are held throughout the country, prior to the Summit. The discussions and deliberations held during these Dialogues are brought forward to the main Summit stage where they are further matured and discussed in-depth by experts and practitioners from relevant fields.
TERI in collaboration with the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I) hosted the first pre-event in the run-up to the 2018 edition of the WSDS. The Kolkata Regional Dialogue held on February 28, 2017 addressed key urban issues related to the realms of – waste and water management, and sustainable habitat.
IFAT India, India's leading environmental trade fair for water, sewage, refuse and recycling, along with TERI organized a conference titled, Environmental Technologies Conference in Mumbai from September 26-27, 2017. IFAT India facilitated an additional high class dialogue with multiple stakeholder groups, including representatives, notably from industries of air and water management, environment and waste management.
TERI organized the ‘Bengaluru Regional Dialogue on Sustainable Development’ on December 22, 2017 to disseminate and debate the findings of TERI’s group in Bangalore on Karnataka’s Sustainable Development and the challenges in moving forward.
The conference initiated multi stake-holder discussions around specific sustainable development issues in Power, Water, Agriculture, Traffic, Health, Education, and other issues.
