India and the EU sign memorandum on cleaning rivers

Uma Bharti, the Indian Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, and Karmenu Vella, the European Union Commissioner Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in cleaning up India's rivers. The MOU, signed on Oct. 7 at the World Sustainable Development Summit, will provide for India receiving technology to protect and clean its waters.
