As part of TERI’s "COOL IT FOR THE CLIMATE: Embracing Sustainable Cooling” Behavior Change Campaign, a poster-making competition was organized to encourage school students to express their creativity and passion for a sustainable future. The initiative aimed to promote simple sustainable practices for improving energy efficiency in refrigerant and air conditioning use. This campaign was a component of TERI’s broader project on India Sustainable Cooling, supported by Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation and New Venture Fund.
The competition provided a platform for young artists to raise awareness about the importance of energy-efficient cooling and refrigeration practices, highlighting their positive impact on the environment and health. Participants were tasked with creating posters that showcased the significance of energy-efficient cooling and refrigeration practices, emphasizing their role in conserving energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and ensuring food safety.
The competition featured two age categories, catering to middle school students (Classes VI-VIII) and high school students (Classes IX-XII) in the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR). Entries were judged based on criteria including:
With participation from over 100 entries across various schools in Delhi, the competition successfully engaged students in advocating for energy-efficient cooling practices and contributed to the broader goals of the sustainability campaign.
The winners will be felicitated during the youth plenary session on Day 3 of the World Sustainable Development Summit 2024.
